Terms of Use
1. Acceptance
By creating an account and using Terse, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use Terse. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
3. Content and reviews
You retain ownership of the reviews you post. By posting, you grant Terse a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display your content within the app and in any promotional materials related to the app. You agree not to post content that is harmful, defamatory, illegal, or that violates the rights of others.
4. One-word rule
Terse is a single-word review platform. Every review must consist of exactly one real word. Word submissions are validated automatically. We reserve the right to remove reviews that circumvent this constraint or otherwise violate our content guidelines.
5. Social features
Terse includes social features such as following other users, liking reviews, creating lists, and reporting content. You agree to use these features respectfully. Misuse — including harassment, spam, or abuse of the reporting system — may result in account suspension or termination.
6. Third-party content
Film, TV, music, book, and game metadata displayed in the app is sourced from third-party providers (including OMDb, MusicBrainz, Open Library, and IGDB). This data is provided for informational purposes only. Terse makes no warranties about its accuracy.
7. Supporter purchase
The Supporter upgrade is a one-time purchase that unlocks additional features including profile customisation and a stats dashboard. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their respective refund policies. Terse does not process payment details directly.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or to the app. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen, which permanently removes your profile and all associated content.
9. Disclaimers
Terse is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. If you are located in the European Union, you may also have rights under applicable EU consumer protection law that these terms do not limit.
11. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
